A relative newcomer to the market, Social CBD (formerly Select CBD) has already become a driving force in changing public attitudes about CBD. The company has managed to get its products into big box, mainstream stores like CVS, Giant Eagle and Walgreens.
Its parent company, Sentia Wellness, is one of the first companies to oversee the entire process of developing and manufacturing all of its products in-house. And Social CBD’s website makes shopping for your CBD a clear, enjoyable experience.
Social CBD carries a blooming line of CBD products in both broad spectrum and isolate formulas, to meet the needs of consumers of all kinds. Unfortunately, the independent lab that tested our sample of Social CBD’s broad spectrum CBD oil showed no difference between it and an isolate formula.
This is a common issue with hemp products, but it does not diminish the overall quality of the pure CBD. The company boasts zero THC in everything it carries, including its CBD oils, CBD gummies, CBD capsules, CBD vapes and CBD topicals.
It has partnered with sports figures to emphasise its focus on purity, and Social CBD puts all of its products through five rounds of testing to ensure consistency before they ever hit the shelf or get shipped to individual customers.
This company is making waves in the industry, and it is becoming recognized as a consistent brand that offers quality products at affordable prices in a mainstream consumer environment.
Social CBD has clean branding that makes products easy to understand, and its customer service is in line with the rest of its branding—prompt, friendly, and simple. We appreciate the company’s quick shipping, too.
We would like to see Social CBD improve its level of transparency and offer a true broad spectrum formula; but this company is highly user-friendly, and it is a good option if you are looking for affordable CBD isolate products online or in a brick-and-mortar setting.

- Independent testing revealed CBD is the only cannabinoid found in product advertised as broad spectrum, indicating more of an isolate formula
Social CBD was formerly Select CBD, but the company/branding changed through some acquisitions and developments between parent companies. As of 2019, Social CBD is based in Portland, Oregon and owned by Sentia Wellness, an emerging cannabis company focused on quality and transparency.
Sentia has other CBD brands in its portfolio as well; and products made under the additional labels, Volcom and Zooey, can also be found on the Social CBD website.
Social CBD has been recognized for its quality and effectiveness by Rolling Stone, Business Insider, and Allure; and Oregon Business Magazine noted that Social CBD was one of the top companies to work for.
The company ensures the farms that grow hemp used to make its CBD employ organic growing practices, and it puts its products through five rounds of testing to ensure purity and potency.
Though Social CBD uses solvents in its distillation and extraction processes, the company takes pride in testing standards and ensures there is no residue in the finished product.
We like to see a simple process when customers are looking for third-party lab results, but the company does not actually display their results online. This means customers either have to make a purchase and use the batch numbers on their shipment, or they have to request a certificate of analysis through customer service.
Shipping and Returns
Social CBD ships to all fifty states, and it currently only ships domestically. (Sorry, U.K.) The company offers free shipping on all orders over $99, and a flat rate of $5.99 on USPS shipping for all orders that total less.
You can choose Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air through UPS, with rates determined at checkout. The company typically processes within one business day, as long as you place your order by noon PST, but they do not process on weekends and holidays.
We ordered our sample of broad spectrum CBD oil from Social CBD on a Tuesday, and the product was shipped the next day. We received our package in the mail a total of four days after we placed the order, which is pretty fast via regular mail.
One thing that really makes a CBD company stand out, is its willingness to provide a satisfaction guarantee. Social CBD does not state that it offers this level of security with your purchase, but the company does indicate that customers who are not satisfied with a product should reach out to its customer care team.
The official policy is that products must be returned unopened and in the original packaging in order to receive a refund, however there may be some wiggle room in this policy as everything is handled on a case-by-case basis.
Social CBD’s Products
CBD oils are the most flexible way to get your daily dose of CBD and customize it for your changing needs. The tinctures made by Social CBD can be found in either a CBD isolate formula or a broad spectrum formula, though we are uncertain if any of the broad spectrum products actually contain any cannabinoids in addition to CBD.
Because of this, we recommend sticking to the isolate oil drops so you don’t end up spending more money on the same formula. Social CBD starts with a base of MCT oil, then adds essential oils and other ingredients that boost specific effects to keep you feeling your best.
Dried herbs like lavender and chamomile are steeped in the oil in order to create a delightful flavor and feeling. All come in a 30mL bottle, and you can choose between varying concentrations.
Isolate CBD Oil Drops ($19.99 – $119.99) – These CBD oil drops can be found with added lavender and chamomile for extra relaxation; peppermint, ashwagandha and rhodiola for balance; or lemon, ginger and turmeric, for better digestion and reduced inflammation.
All variations except for the lavender-chamomile selection are available in 250mg – 2000mg concentrations. All of these options sound great to you? Get a sample-sized bottle of each and the unflavored oil as well, for just $24.99.
Broad Spectrum CBD Oil Drops ($39.99 – $124.99) – Social CBD’s broad spectrum drops do not have any added essential oils to boost specific effects, but they do come in delightful flavors that are sure to make you smile.
Try vanilla mint, cinnamon, meyer lemon or pomegranate tea, in concentrations ranging from 375mg to 1500mg. You can also try a starter pack with a sample size of three flavors plus and unflavored selection for $44.99.
Most companies do not have very many options when it comes to their CBD capsules; but Social CBD has four different kinds of capsules to choose from. Sure, they only sell one concentration—33.3mg per capsule—but you can choose between four different targeted formulas to meet all your needs.
All capsules start with CBD isolate suspended in MCT oil packed into a glycerine gelcap. Choose between a bottle containing 30 capsules, or an on-the-go option of 12 packs of 2 capsules, perfect for throwing into your purse or gym bag.
CBD Gel Capsules ($44.99 – $64.99) – There are four different types of gel capsules available through Social CBD, each containing additional extracts to help you meet your wellness goals.
The Balance capsules are just pure CBD; Boost Capsules are infused with 75mg of yerba mate and 75mg of moringa to help you keep your energy elevated throughout the day; Recover capsules contain turmeric and black pepper for reduced inflammation and faster healing; and Rest capsules are infused with passion flower and valerian, to help you relax your way into a good night’s sleep.
CBD gummies come in countless varieties and it is always fun to see every company’s unique take on the popular candy. Social CBD offers several different flavors, and they are all crafted to wake up your taste buds while helping you relax into wellness. All are made with broad spectrum CBD. They are dairy and gluten free, and third-party tested to ensure you are getting an accurate dose of CBD.
Broad Spectrum CBD Gummies ($14.99 – $15.99) – Each gummy contains 12.5mg of CBD, with a serving size being 25mg (two gummies). You can choose between three delicious flavors, including peach mango, lemon or red raspberry. These come in a 10-count or a 60-count package.
Most CBD companies sell the standard balms and cooling gels; but Social CBD also has their own unique CBD patches formulated for targeted pain relief. No matter what you are looking for in a topical CBD product, you can find it with Social CBD.
Cooling Products from Social CBD ($34.99 – $39.99) – These items are all made with one goal in mind—soothing aching joints and muscles. All are made with menthol and CBD, suspended in a different base to get just the right texture for your problem spots.
Choose between a muscle rub with 250mg of CBD, a roll-on gel with 300mg of CBD, a balm stick made with shea butter, beeswax and 400mg of CBD, and a foot renewal cream with vitamin E, arnica, white willow bark and 250mg of CBD.
Soothing Essential Rest from Social CBD ($29.99 – $39.99) – The Calming Lavender Balm Stick is made with shea butter, beeswax, menthol and lavender, for a soothing, relaxing CBD topical with 400mg of the good stuff; and you can take it with you anywhere.
The Rest CBD Body Lotion is a relaxing blend of essential oils in a lotion that will help carry you away to dreamland if you use it as part of your bedtime routine. Goes on smooth and is non-greasy, for a just-from-the-spa feeling any time right at home.
CBD Infused Patch ($7.99 – $49.99) – Meant to slowly release CBD into your system over a period of 24 hours, these patches are just the thing for persistent problem spots and injuries.
Just slap one on and feel the pain melt away. Choose between concentrations of 20mg, 60mg or 100mg; and order just one for a sample of relief, or three for a longer-term solution.
When you find something that makes you feel good, you want to share the joy, right? That counts for your furry friends, too! Social CBD makes a few different CBD oils that cater to the tastes of your pet, and they also make a paw balm to help keep your pooch’s foot pads soft as can be.
Pets Broad Spectrum CBD Drops ($24.99 – $59.99) – Just like with the CBD made for humans, these drops are made with MCT oil and CBD oil. They are soy and sugar free, and you can choose between 250mg, 500mg, and 750mg to ensure the right dose for your four-legged friend.
They come in bacon, chicken or peanut butter flavors. If you’ve got a particularly picky pet, try sneaking the unflavored oil into your pet’s food or water.
Paw Balm ($34.99) – If your pooch frequently gets dry, cracked paws or an irritated nose, this is your product. It goes on non-greasy and is lick-safe, so Fido can go ahead and lap away once you put it on. Use this balm to heal and protect paws from the elements.
We sent a sample of Social CBD’s broad spectrum CBD drops off to our independent lab to ensure this company does in fact label products correctly. We were happy to discover that the CBD concentration listed on the bottle came within 3 percent of the actual amount (10 percent or less is generally considered good to excellent).
We also noticed, however, that this sample did not contain any cannabinoids besides CBD. While this is the expected case for an isolate formula, broad spectrum formulas have additional cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, or CBC, in order to produce the entourage effect.
In other words, the broad spectrum formula is essentially a CBD isolate formula.

Social CBD has one of the best websites in the online CBD market right now. Everything is clear and easy to find, while still maintaining a pleasant, satisfying aesthetic.
The company’s branding is evident from the moment you visit the home page, and it manages to even feature two other brands that fall under the parent company without confusing its own message and products. You can search for products by entering terms into the search box, but the menus are very simple to navigate.
One really convenient feature is the ability to view products categorized by effect. So you can simply click on CBD for energy and focus, or CBD for muscle recovery, to see all the products that have targeted uses.
We reached out to Social CBD with questions about their products, and they quickly responded within a few hours. The answers we received from their customer support agent were clear and detailed.
We would definitely recommend contacting them if you are curious about CBD, or if you have any issues that need to be resolved.
Though Social CBD is a recent addition to the market, the company has been smart about its product choices and presentation. We would like to see more readily available third-party lab results, as we believe customers should be able to see them before making an investment.
Additionally, products labeled as broad-spectrum should have a robust cannabinoid profile, rather than simply being CBD—which is in actuality an isolate.
Overall, transparency with Social CBD has a lot of room for improvement. This is one of the most common issues with CBD companies, and you should always use caution when it is not easy to find information like lab reports and hemp sourcing. The company does, however, have an excellent customer service department and reasonable prices.
The amount of actual CBD is accurately labeled, and customers really like the products. If you are looking for a robust broad spectrum formula, Social CBD may not be for you; but anyone who is simply into using CBD isolate products will likely be satisfied with the company’s offerings.
