Sunday Scaries breaks from the typical CBD brand, in that it was founded by a couple of dudes who used to own a bar, got stressed out, and found CBD as a solution.
Now, they want to help bring the relaxation CBD promotes to the rest of the world, and they are using their sense of humor to appeal to a younger, possibly less health-conscious market. The company promotes all their CBD products as a fun, anxiety-reducing product no matter what your lifestyle or profession is.
On their website, you can find CBD oil with a sweet, tasty fruit punch flavor and added ingredients to boost specific effects; CBD gummies in both vegan and non-vegan options; and CBD energy shots. The company keeps its product line minimal so it can focus on making the best CBD possible, and it does not sell CBD capsules or any topicals.
Sunday Scaries claims that all of its products are made with broad spectrum CBD, however, a broad spectrum formula typically also contains CBG, CBD, and/or CBN.
Lab results from Sunday Scaries as well as the testing we commissioned from a third-party lab, conflict with the broad spectrum claim due to the lack of any cannabinoids other than CBD.
We like the easy-going attitude of the brand and its prompt shipping, but we would suggest looking elsewhere if you want a robust broad spectrum product. The prices are a little high as well, but this is a fun company with the potential to brighten your day through its cheerful products and clever marketing.
- Company has fun marketing content with an entertaining website geared toward a Millennial crowd.
- Products are accurately labeled with CBD concentration.
- Unique, great-tasting products.
- Hemp used in products sourced from pesticide-free farms and processed in Kosher, ISO and GMP certified facilities.
- Vegan gummies available—a rarity in the CBD industry.
- Though the company advertises broad spectrum products, the products generally only contain CBD.
- No topical products available, meaning that internal ingestion is your only option for CBD from this company.
In 2017, Mike Sill and Beau Schmitt founded Sunday Scaries, headquartered in San Diego, in order to help people experience the same stress relief they found in CBD for themselves.
They both first started noticing that anxiety built around the coming of a new work week when they co-owned a bar, and they learned that there was a name for it: Sunday Scaries.
Reducing the Sunday Scaries no matter what day of the week it is, is the entire focus of the company. They have been recognized by publications like Buzzfeed, Popsugar, and Cosmopolitan, they are the self-proclaimed “best hemp company in the world,” and they won Best Gummies 2019 from Men’s Health—though this award was specifically based on the flavor, while effectiveness was undetermined.
Sunday Scaries sources the hemp used in its products from KND Labs in Denver, Colorado. This facility is Good Manufacturing Practices certified for food, dietary supplements and cosmetics. KND is also Kosher certified, ISO certified and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient certified.
The company does not disclose the extraction method it uses to obtain CBD, however, there is a trace amount of ethanol in the sample we had tested. This indicates a likely ethanol extraction method.
Once the CBD has been processed from raw materials, it is then sent to the manufacturing facility in San Diego. Sunday Scaries does make all third-party lab testing available online.
Shipping and Returns
Sunday Scaries boasts shipping your order out within one business day. You can choose between standard shipping (free for all domestic orders over $69), expedited shipping in 3-5 business days ($9) or super fast shipping in 2-3 business days ($25). There are no other shipping options, and the company does not ship to South Dakota.
We always appreciate prompt delivery when we order CBD, and Sunday Scaries came through for us. We placed our order early in the week to avoid delays due to the weekend, and it was processed and shipped out the following day. Within three days after that, our package was in our mailbox, for a total of four days from order to delivery.
On their website, Sunday Scaries indicates that if you are not satisfied with their product for any reason whatsoever, you can return it for a full refund.
The company does not indicate how long you have in order to do so, which could mean that they forgot to include that information, or that you have an unlimited amount of time, or the acceptable time limit for returns is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Sunday Scaries’ Products
The benefits of CBD oil are numerous, but the FDA has tight restrictions on the claims any companies can make about what their products are good for. Regardless, Sunday Scaries toes the line, by unquestioningly letting consumers know that this oil will help reduce your anxiety in numerous situations, and it will help you get a good night’s sleep as well.
Sunday Scaries focuses on creating better products by making their line as simple as possible. The company sells only one kind of CBD oil in one strength, which certainly reduces the amount of time customers need to spend doing their research in order to come to a decision.
This oil is made with additional vitamins, coconut oil and 500mg of CBD, and you can order multiple bottles or subscribe to a monthly delivery service to make it more affordable.
CBD Oil Tincture with Vitamins D3 and B12 ($69) – Lightly flavored to taste like fruit punch, this CBD tincture is mild and does not leave an aftertaste like many other CBD oils on the market.
The company has also infused this oil with vitamin D3 for elevated mood and B12 for nervous system regulation and more energy throughout your day. Place a few drops under your tongue and hold it there for about a minute, or add the oil to your morning coffee, your lunchtime smoothie, or your after-dinner slice of cheesecake.
CBD gummies are always a popular item with almost any CBD company, but many gummies are simply not satisfying for a number of reasons. Some come with a bitter, hempy aftertaste, or they are a strange texture that is hard to get past.
This is not the case with Sunday Scaries, and they even make three different kinds of gummy-style candies to satisfy any sweet tooth. All types of candies from Sunday Scaries come in 10mg per piece concentrations, making it simple to control your dose whether you need something lighter to help you relax, or you need a bigger dose to handle the killer day ahead.
With these, too, you can get yourself a discount by ordering more than one or subscribing to a monthly delivery service.
CBD Gummies with Vitamins D3 and B12 ($36 for 20 pieces) – These gummies come in orange, cherry, pineapple, lemon and apple flavors, and they are enhanced with vitamins D3 and B12, just like the CBD oil. While this selection is not vegan, it is GMO and gluten-free, and sweetened with pure cane sugar, not high-fructose corn syrup.
Vegan AF CBD Gummies with Vitamins D3 and B12 ($39 for 20 pieces) – When you want to get your daily dose of CBD in the form of a delicious snack, but you also have a love for food ethics and animals, there aren’t very many options.
But with Sunday Scaries, you can now get totally vegan, cruelty-free CBD gummies that taste delicious. These ones pack a sour punch, and bottles contain lemon, lime, tangerine and cherry flavors.
Unicorn Jerky ($24 for 10) – While this is technically not a gummy candy, this is such a fun product that we had to mention it. You can’t go wrong with a sparkly, rainbow colored treat covered in sweet and sour sugar; and adding 10mg of CBD makes it even better.
To sweeten the deal to the max, $1 of every purchase of this product goes to The Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and mental health advocacy group.
We had the 500mg CBD oil from Sunday Scaries tested at an independent lab of our choosing, in order to confirm that this company is making an accurately labeled product that you can trust.
As you can see, the oil’s CBD content comes within two percent of the stated amount, which is excellent (within 10 percent is generally deemed acceptable). This oil did contain the tiniest trace amount of ethanol residue (174ppm, with up to 1821ppm passing).
While this is such a small amount, we always prefer to see no solvent residue in the CBD products we review.
Additionally, while Sunday Scaries advertises that all of their products are made with broad spectrum CBD, we found no other cannabinoids in addition to the CBD. This indicates pure CBD—an isolate formula—rather than a broad spectrum formula that would produce an entourage effect.

This website is just plain fun. The design makes it look like Sunday Scaries offers a greater number of products than it actually does because it is a bit cluttered, but that does not make the content any less enjoyable to browse.
The irreverent and humorous approach to general wellbeing is refreshing compared to other CBD websites, and it appeals to a younger crowd that may not be seriously focused on wellness but still wants to feel good.
There are no search or filtering options, requiring a couple extra clicks to find what you want. The website offers an entertaining quiz to help you determine which CBD products are just right for you, depending on your personal wellness style.
Sunday Scaries responded to our email within the same day. Their answers to our questions were somewhat brief, but in a way that was concise and informative.
We really don’t have any complaints about their customer service at all. After our interactions with them, we’re confident that they should be able to handle any queries that come their way.
The lighthearted approach to CBD products that Sunday Scaries does so well is what makes this company’s products appealing. The website is enjoyable to browse, with silly infographics and meme-worthy content, as well as informative blog posts that are delightful to read.
The product line is straightforward and easy to decipher, and there are not so many items to choose from that you feel overwhelmed every time you visit the site to shop.
It would be nice to have a few more dosing options, as there is only one for anything you order, but the lower doses make it easy to simply take more to get your desired effect.
It’s also nice that Sunday Scaries products are all enhanced with vitamins D3 and B12, giving you the extra boost you need in order to feel your best all day every day without adding a bunch of extra supplements to your routine—and possibly making up for the higher prices.
Sunday Scaries has a little room to improve on their level of transparency, making information about their process clearer and easier to find.
We would also like to see the company either change its labels to indicate that its products are made with an isolate formula or change its current formula to include a more robust cannabinoid profile.
Despite these negative aspects, we would recommend them if you are looking for products that add a little humor to your day, and are easy to take at a lower dose.
